from Our Constitution:

The University of Richmond Poetry Symposium is committed to developing an open environment in which to read specifically, but not exclusively, poems, short stories, and other creative works of literature. An environment where young writerscan recieve constructive criticism on their work and gain the benefit of listening to others read. In addition, the symposium wishes to provide a forum for which students can air their work publicly.

We ask that our members:
1.) Come to meetings with an open mind.
2.) Try to bring something to read to as many meetings as possible; anything is acceptable to read to the group, regardless of subject matter.
3.) Be prepared to offer constructive criticism about what is presented as well as compliments.
4.) Will try to offer at least one of each of the above to the reader.
Lastly, everyone should be prepared to recieve compliments and criticisms.
