Greek Life At UR
 Richmond, which is home to seven nationally affiliated men’s
fraternities
here is unique in that there are is no on-campus housing exclusively for
Greeks, and members are free to live with members in their own chapter,
members of other chapters, or independents in the campus residence
halls.
Recruitment
Each fall semester, women who are interested in Recruitment, sign up and
are assigned to a Rho Gamma who will lead them through the process,
answer
any questions and concerns they may have, and council them on important
decisions.
The Panhellenic Council at UR hold a few organized Recruitment events in
order for non-affiliated students to become familiar with the Greek
system. These recruitment events are called “Sorority Interest
Socials” or
“Sis
Events,” and during these events, potential new members have the
opportunity to visit all of the sororities to meet the sisters and try
to
decide where they might fit in.
The first week of the spring semester is Recruitment Week, during which
potential new members who wish to take part in the Recruitment process
attend events for each sorority. After each night is complete, a
"mutual
selection" process takes place - sorority members invite individuals to
come back again the next night, and the potential new members choose
where
they wish to return. At the end of the week, a final choice
is made by
both parties and the potential new member is given a bid.
