I am honored to serve as President of the Rho Rho Chapter.  93 years ago, 22 phenomenal women founded our sorority, based on the principles of scholarship, service and sisterhood.  Nationally, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority has made great strides towards the empowerment of our community through service.  Our sorority has committed itself to several initiatives, which can all be seen through our Five Point Thrust.  Some of our national programs include, but are not limited to the following: Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy, continuing efforts at the Thika Memorial Hospital in Kenya, and Voter Education and Registration, Public Policy and Legislation. Following these efforts, it is our duty as a chapter to uphold the legacy in place and to continue to blaze the trail of success, as we strengthen our community and our sisterhood through continued, dedicated service.

As a chapter, we have planned many meaningful activities this year.  This fall, we hosted Dining with the Divas, an informational event in Dhall which allowed the campus to get to know more about our sorority and the programs in which our chapter is involved.  Our annual Greek Panel featured representatives from many of the Divine Nine Historically Black Greek Letter Organizations in a panel discussion followed by a cookout with  DJ Duck.  We also hosted a Bowling Night and presented our first annual AIDS Day Program in December where  representatives from the Kaufmann Foundation spoke about AIDS awareness and what it is like to live with AIDS.

As a chapter we participated in a walk-o-thon fundraiser called Light the Night to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society on October 7th.  As a chapter we raised over $800 to donate to blood cancer research.  Thanks to all who helped by donating!

We’re starting off the spring semester with Back to School Daze 90’s Party with the Que’s at the Mattrixx Room (Jan 19th) and our annual Sister2Sister Sleepover the weekend of Jan 27-28th.  In February we’ll be hosting Love and Hip Hop a night of live music as well as Code Red Week (Feb 19-24th). We’ll kick it off with the Soweto Gospel Choir Concert on Feb 19 and move to the Mr. Rho Rho Contest Feb 21st.  We’ll close it out with a party to raise money for the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Campaign on Feb 24th.

As the 2006-2007 school year begins, it saddens me to acknowledge that I, along with my line sisters, will be graduating soon.  However, I am confident that our departure will not go unnoticed, as we have surely made our mark on campus!  Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has helped me, along with thousands of other young, beautiful ladies, become confident women.  I am excited about our programs this year and hope that you will join us!

Take a look at our calendar of events and feel free to contact any member of the chapter for more information! Thanks for visiting and please sign our guestbook!
