VII: Amendments
Asian-American Student
Association (ASA) is the name of this
organization.
A.
The primary purposes of this organization are:
The Asian-American
Student Association is open to any individual
interested in learning
more about the various cultures of Asian and the
important issues facing
Asian Americans today.
A. Events and activities
outside of organization meetings that support the
organization's purposes
and goals will be offered and supported by the
association.
B. ASA members are
individually responsible for social involvement within
the University community.
ARTICLE V: Meetings (Executive Board and General)
2. Special meetings
of the Executive Board may be called upon by
thePresident, at his/her
discretion or by two-thirds agreement of the
Executive Board.
3. All Committee chairperson
and/or co-chair are expected to be present
at the weekly Executive
Board meeting to report the status of his/her
committee.
4. Individual committees
shall meet at the discretion of the committee
chairperson(s).
6. In decisions necessitating
a vote, the decision shall be carried by a
majorityvote (fifty
percent plus one) of those members present.
7. The president shall
vote in general meetings only in cases where votes
areequally distributed
and no decision may otherwise be reached.
8.The President at
his/her discretion may call upon special general meetings,
by two-thirds agreement
of the Executive Board, or by the written request of
5% of the ASA membership.
A. The body of ASA
members that plans, guides, and serves the needs of
the ASA is the Council
(Executive Board).
B. The titles and responsibilities
of Council (Executive Board) members are:
D. All Executive Board
members must be University of Richmond
undergraduates at
least sophomore status (does not apply to sudden
Board vacancies) who
have shown previous involvement and
commitment to the
organization.
E. All Executive Board
members hold their positions for the school year,
with the election
of new Executive Board members in April.
F. The election process
begins in mid-March.
Amendments to the constitution
and its bylaws can be made only
by a 3/4 majority
vote of all active organization members.
