University of Richmond Micah Initiative

  The Peter-Paul Development Center is one of Richmond's most important and cherished ministries. About to celebrate its 25th anniversary, the center has proven to be a corner stone in the East end of town. One of the most important forms of ministry that the center performs is their after-school program. The University of Richmond Micah Initiative supports this program by sending volunteers to the center to help the students with homework and other activities. The time slot in which UR students are encouraged to go is from 4pm to 5pm on either Monday, Wednesday, or Friday. After school programs will begin on September 27th, 2004. There will be two locations to volunteer. Saint Phillip's Episcopal Church Church on North-side will host volunteering programs for the older children. The younger children will remain at the Peter-Paul Development Center.

DIRECTIONS

Over the 2003-2004 school year. The Micah Initiative began a supplemental program beyond mentoring called the UR Buddies Program. The children from the Peter-Paul Development Center and UR students got together once a month for special trips or programs. Activities included a trip to the Virginia Historical Society and a UR Football game. In the upcoming year, the Micah Initiative will continue to support this program by scheduling trips to a variety of exciting sites across the Richmond area. If you would like to become a "Buddy" please put your name and e-mail address on an index card and place it in the Micah Box in Student Activities accompanied with the $10.00 due (cash or check payable to president).
